Attention, fraudsters !

The computer emergency response team KZ-CERT of the State Technical Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan warns of the activation of Internet fraudsters in Kazakhstan.The attackers, via mobile instant messengers and e-mail, under the pretext of holiday promotions, send out messages inviting them to take a survey, the ultimate goal of which is to make a guarantee fixing payment or pay a commission for the paid bonus.

Fraudulent messages may contain:

  • Information that is alarming or threatening, for example, closing your bank account;
  • Inactive fields (tabs) on the page form;
  • A promise of great monetary gain with minimal or no effort;
  • Information about transactions that are too good to be true, in most cases, these are “questionnaire sites”, after which the participant is guaranteed to be rewarded after paying the commission;
  • Requests for donations on behalf of charitable organizations after reports of disaster news, etc.

Recommendations from KZ-CERT

The computer emergency response team KZ-CERT recommends not to go to gaming, entertainment-oriented Internet resources, unfamiliar resources, not to follow links and banners with “sensations” - often such news is used to infect users with various malware.

Be careful about the security of the phone, when you receive SMS - notifications and one-time codes.

Consider any suspicious letter from an unknown addressee, on an unexpected topic, where you are offered or you are attempted to be forced to perform an operation urgently, or in a compressed time - as malicious.

Carefully check the sender's address. Attackers can send you a letter on behalf of your friend or trusted organization, changing one or two letters in the address.

Contact bank call centers if you detect any change in the logic of operations. Carefully and carefully use the devices (computer, laptop, tablet) from which you access Internet banking services,as well as pay with your cards.

If you are a victim of phishing, we recommend you immediately contact the Computer Emergency Response Team via the 1400 hotline and change passwords and PIN codes in all of your online accounts that may have been compromised.
